NextGen Trades Academy
The NextGen Trades Academy, a flagship program of The LIME Foundation, transforms the lives of underserved youth across the North Bay. Designed for individuals aged 16-24, the Academy offers a multi-week curriculum focused on vocational training, life skills, and career readiness — opening doors to over 27 construction-related fields such as plumbing, roofing, HVAC, electrical work, and more.
Beyond technical skills, students gain training in resume writing, financial literacy, interview skills, and health and wellness. Our blended learning model combines online classes, hands-on training, and interactive sessions with local professionals.
In 2024, we served 98 students from diverse backgrounds across Sonoma, Marin, Napa, and Solano counties through hybrid and in-person cohorts. Graduates are eligible for paid apprenticeships and employment, supported by our network of local contractors.
NextGen alumni have successfully entered trades including restoration, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, while others pursue further education or military training — all equipped with the skills and confidence to build lasting careers.
Watch this video of one of our graduates who was searching for an opportunity in the trades. She wanted to enter the electrical field but found her passion doing solar. Thank you to Solarcraft for providing these opportunities. Meet Rosa - NextGen Trades Academy Graduate
